About Project

“The CAMPUS Asia Common Quality Assurance Standards Project” was launched to develop common standards that are essential for participating countries and institutions with the goal of promoting international collaborative academic exchange programs with quality assurance in Asia.

In 2021, as a quality assurance agency, the National Institution for Academic Degrees and Quality Enhancement of Higher Education (NIAD-QE) started working on this project as part of the “Inter-University Exchange Project” initiated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).

The ‘CAMPUS Asia’ initiative was launched by the governments of Japan, China, and Korea in 2011 to promote student exchange with quality assurance. Mode 3, which is a new phase started in 2021, enabled universities in ASEAN countries to participate in ‘CAMPUS Asia’ programs. Furthermore, the three governments have proposed a concept to advance the assurance of the quality of international collaborative academic exchange programs across Asia while also improving them. This project supports sustainable quality assurance within Asian university consortiums through creating common quality assurance standards for inter-university exchange programs in Asia with such inter-governmental initiatives in mind.

Details and outcomes of this project’s contribution to the progress of quality-assured inter-university exchanges will be disseminated via this website.
